Chalet Vihren — Four-Bedroom House

A detached house of 240 m² on the western edge of Bansko, where the streets stop and the national park begins. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a double-height living room with a stone fireplace, and a garden of about 600 m² backing directly onto open land.

The building

Built in 2019 to a genuinely good standard — this is not one of the rushed 2007-era blocks. Timber frame on a stone base, triple glazing, underfloor heating on both floors, and a wood-fired sauna in an outbuilding.

Three of the four bedrooms are doubles with en-suites; the fourth is a bunk room that children tend to claim immediately. It sleeps nine comfortably.

What you need to know

You will want a car. The Gondola is 2.2 km away — walkable in summer, not with skis in January. There is a ski shuttle in season, and it is reliable, but it runs to a timetable and the timetable will not care that you are running late.

In exchange you get silence, a garden, and a view that nobody can build in front of because the land behind is protected. For a family buying a place to actually live in rather than an investment unit, that trade is usually the right one.

Heating costs run to roughly €1,400 across a winter, which is what a house this size costs to keep warm properly.
